FAQ

How long does the show last?

The show itself is one hour long. Nice and easy.
Our bar is open from 5pm, so come down as early as that. You’ll be let into the theatre at 6:45, and you’ll be in there til 8pm. After the show, the bar stays open until late and we have live Christmas karaoke going for anybody who wants to get up and have a sing!

Are we allowed to bring drinks into the theatre?

Absolutely! (As long as they’re purchased from our bar.)

Am I eligible for the concession ticket?

If you’re a student, unwaged or retired, you’re welcome to purchase the discounted concession ticket.

Are we able to access the bar during the show?

If you want to double park your drink for the show, we got you! As long as you aren’t drunk we’re happy to serve you a double pour of wine or beer, from 15 minutes before the show starts.

Once the show’s underway, you’re in there for the hour.

What about if I need to pee during the show?

If you’re in the theatre and you think there’s a chance you might not be able to hold it in for an hour, try and sit near-ish the tech booth in the theatre, as that’s the easiest area for us to slip you out from. You won’t be able to get a drink on the way back in though (otherwise everyone will want one!)

Do I have to turn my phone off during the show?

Yes, please turn it to silent and live in the moment with us! Don’t be “that guy” texting during the show or taking photos of the show – the light from the phone is annoying for the people around you, and having one face in the audience light up in the dark from phone light is also a recipe to get singled out!

If you want a memory or an instagram, we’d love you to take photos with us after the show!

Can you change or refund tickets if my plans change?

Absolutely! We want you to purchase your tickets with confidence. Furthermore, if you’re sick, we’d prefer you didn’t bring your bugs into the theatre.

Need to change the date? Just email ticketing@littleandromeda.co.nz

Need to cancel? You can email us or even just self refund by clicking the “Edit order” link in the tickets you’ve received in your email.

When groups of 6 or more cancel at the very last minute, it’s a little more of a pain for us as it’s harder to resell that many, but still just do what you have to do.

Where is Little Andromeda Theatre?

We’re nestled upstairs on the Terrace (formerly the Strip), in the middle of the Christchurch CBD. If you know Craft Embassy, Botanic, King of Snake, Roca or Amaterrace… we’re up by those bars.

If it’s your first time here, allow yourself an extra bit of time to get lost. The directions video on this page might help too.

Do you have parking?

The most convenient carpark is The Terrace Carpark – located right next door at 92 Hereford Street. You can walk out the carpark door and straight up the stairs to us.

Do you cater to accessibility requirements?

You bet! Have a read of our theatre accessibility information, then fill out the form at the bottom of that page to let us know what night you’re coming so we can be best prepared to welcome you.

What time should I arrive, and what happens if I’m late?

DO NOT aim to arrive at 7pm. 5pm or 6pm is amazing, and 6:30 is absolutely fine too. 6:45pm is the latest comfortable time. The show starts at 7, but you’re going to want to get here, maybe visit the wharepaku, maybe get a drink (and don’t forget there’s a queue at the bar at the final rush before the show).

We save a handful of seats by the door for latecomers, and we’re almost always able to slip a few latecomers in.

If you’re coming with a larger group, it’s essential you’re here by 6:40 at the latest as we’ll want to get you into the theatre first to make sure you get seats together. If you’re going out for dinner on the Terrace beforehand, we find it can sometimes take a bit longer than you expect to move everyone on to the next venue, so aim early. Feel free to call us to discuss – we want to make sure the night goes smoothly for everyone!

Can you run a tab at the bar for my workplace?

Absolutely.

Is there food available?

There sure is! Craft Embassy’s full menu is available here until about 45 minutes before the show starts. After that, their snack menu is available and you’re welcome to take them into the show. (We only do snacks during show time because meals are awkward to eat off your knees and the clinking of knives and forks is annoying).

If you want to gather your workplace here before the show, we work with Craft to cater that too if you like! Just hit us up to talk about the options.

I’m a bit shy, am I going to get picked on?

Don’t worry! There’s definitely interaction in this show but we’re really good at what we do and that includes not making audience members feel dumb. However this segues to the next question:

I can’t wait to let loose and pregame and get really drunk and come to the show and call out stupid stuff!

Hey, we’re here to party too! And the show is heaps of fun! But don’t be “that guy”.

If you’re talking through the show and dampening the fun for the other 99 people in the room, please don’t be offended if our staff intervene.

Is this show offensive to Christians?

Look, this isn’t going to be quite the same version of the nativity you got taught in Sunday School. But if you can handle a few swears, a few rude jokes, and a bogan Mary, then you’ll be just fine.

Don’t hesitate to give us a call though if you have someone conservative in your group and want to double check.
